Glock 34 Tungsten Guide Rod - First, let me start by saying that I haven't run it since installing it. I don't foresee any problems with it. Now for the good stuff. When I was looking at this guide rod instead of the standard tungsten, my main question was how much it weighs compared to the standard tungsten. So I use the extended uncaptured 34 for Gen 5. PURE extended, uncompressed 13# spring weighs 3.6 oz. Yes, you can do option 2. Only giving the guide rod weight when using the 13# spring can cause it to not lock during press check. I don't think it causes any problems in normal operation, but if I hold the gun pointing vertically up and pull the bolt back enough to open. It will not return to closed state. An easy fix is a heavier spring. I use this setup in USPSA optics. I have SRO on the slide which affects the weight.
The stock looks like a cheap joke in comparison due to the huge weight difference. With this impressive weight and shiny metal, the stock's much improved look and feel beats the plastic insert in terms of looks. I had a few pipes, but only when the kid was smoking them, which was more likely a loose wrist since that never happened to me. I am very happy with this update and highly recommend it.

I bought an £18 recoil pad (brand new, never fired) for my G23 G5. I got my (first) Glock yesterday, got half way through my upgrade order today...went home, put the island tail on and installed the guide. Reassemble and test on the stand. The slide doesn't go all the way, it stops about a quarter of an inch before the end of the barrel. 4 stars because I don't know if it's because of the heavy spring. If I pull it back and let it fly away it will close, but under a normal/standard drawer I have to close it with my thumb behind the lock.
The product arrived, it fit perfectly 34.4. 13# spring loaded, it weighs 2.7 oz. I upgraded my 34.4 [ scope to 8.3oz with tungsten putty and shot. The guide rod ensures perfect balance. Nice weight and balance, will take to the shooting range to see how it performs. The gun operates at 30 oz.
Pure Tungsten Ross Guide (Written) 13# Spring Mounted GL34, Gen 5. No optics.
